During the PLANT FWD week (20-27th of April, 2024), 40 restaurants in Amsterdam become even vegan friendlier than they already were. Here you will find an overview of some of these cozy vegan-friendly restaurants.
Looking for a vegan friendly restaurant during the PLANT FWD week?
PLANT FWD is a conference in Amsterdam. This will take place on April 23 and 24, 2024. There will be dozens of speakers, start-ups, policy makers and investors, all of whom are interested in plant-based eating. In addition to this conference, PLANT FWD has organized a nice extra: this week there are 40 restaurants in Amsterdam that are expanding their vegan menu. Some restaurants are already completely plant-based, others also serve meat and fish, but this week they are becoming more vegan-friendly than usual. Saturday April 20 to Saturday April 27, 2024 is the ideal week to go out for dinner as a vegan. Even if you are not vegan but are curious about vegan food, you can taste a lot of extra vegan goodies during the PLANT FWD week. Below we have made a selection of 13 cozy restaurants that participate in the PLANT FWD week.

Meatless District
In 2016, Meatless District opened its doors, a vegan restaurant with a industrial vibe, inspired by the famous meatpacking district in New York. Their motto: everything you eat here simply has to be delicious! Meatless District offers a diverse menu and utilizes vegan products from local producers. The restaurant aims to inspire people with delightful vegan dishes to foster the growth of the vegan community. Madre
Since November 2021, Madre has been tempting everyone to eat plant-based Mexican delicacies. The hip restaurant does not market itself as being vegan, while the entire menu is plant-based. Chez Nina
Brasserie Chez Nina opened its doors in 2022 and immediately became a huge success. The food is delicious and the restaurant has a beautiful fancy look, but the fame of the owner will also play a role in this. Nina Olsson is known from the food platform Nourish Atelier and author of the cookbook Bowls of Goodness. Chez Nina has an all day menu consisting of small dishes to share. They also serve local wines, tasty beers and fancy cocktails. Do you want to have lunch or dinner here? Make a reservation in advance. Dignita - Hoftuin
Dignita is an all day brunch restaurant with three locations in Amsterdam. You can choose from three locations, one in South near the Vondelpark, one in the middle of the Hoftuin, or the newest restaurant at the Westerpark. The menu consists largely of vegetarian dishes, a number of vegan dishes and a few dishes that contain meat or fish. They also offer the option to add supplements to a dish. Dignita is part of the "We are not for sale" project where they train people from vulnerable target groups to become more resilient and reintegrate into society. Lowlander
Lowlander describes itself as a 'botanical bar and restaurant'. The restaurant is similar to 't IJ, so you have a view of the water. Furthermore, the restaurant is decorated with dozens of plants, making you feel like you are in a green oasis. Most of the menu is vegan, with many vegetarian options. There are comparatively very few meat and fish dishes. Especially during the PLANT FWD week, the vegan menu wins over all other dishes. Pllek
Pllek is a hotspot in Amsterdam-Noord on the industrial NDSM shipyard. The restaurant describes itself as the largest green restaurant in Amsterdam. The menu is mainly vegetarian and vegetarian, with meat and fish being served in lesser quantities. During the PLANT FWD week the proportions are even more animal-friendly; then there will be extra vegan options! Pllek has a gigantic terrace with a beautiful view over the IJ. Scheepskameel
At De Scheepskameel the emphasis is on good hospitality and beautiful products. The restaurant has been awarded Bib Gourmand. This is a price for very good price-quality ratio. De Scheepskameel has a very regularly changing menu in which classic European preparation with a lot of attention to the main ingredient plays the leading role. As they say themselves, you can dine here in a relaxed atmosphere, for everyone and for all occasions. They keep their word because De Scheepskameel offers a full menu for vegans and vegetarians. Both à la carte and a menu composed by the chef are possible. Due to the popularity of the restaurant and the daily changing menu, the menu is not available and you should be surprised upon arrival. Cannibale Royale Handboogstraat
As a vegan or vegetarian, Cannibale Royale is probably not your first choice. After all, it is a real meat restaurant. But luckily there are always a few vegan options available. However, during the PLANT FWD week things are even better arranged for vegans: the vegan menu will be more extensive and there will be more animal-friendly options available this week. Restaurant Flore
Hotel de l'Europe on Nieuwe Doelenstraat in Amsterdam houses Restaurant Flore, a 'Conscious Fine Dining' concept, led by Michelin-star chef Bas van Kranen. Here, high-quality ingredients are transformed into simple but special dishes that change with the seasons. The menu therefore changes constantly, based on the following principle: 'vegetables of the moment', which is why there is no menu available. As a guest, you can choose a lunch menu for 110 euros per person, or a dinner menu for 185 euros per person. All dishes are dairy-free and of course the menus can also be ordered as vegetarian. The Lobby Fizeaustraat

Raïnaraï - Westerpark
Rainaraï is an Algerian restaurant. They have locations in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. In Amsterdam the restaurant is located in the Westerpark with a large terrace for when the sun shines. The restaurant has a beautiful traditional decor. Once you have tasted the nomadic cuisine of Algeria, it will never let you go. About half of the menu consists of vegan and vegetarian dishes and half of meat and fish dishes.
