One of our most mixed feelings dining experiences from 2022 was at Daalder . Incredible setting, service and food quality. The flavor combinations and creativity in each bites and dish was memorable. However what tainted the whole experience was the service in particular how slow it was. We took over 5 hours to finish our meal and 1h30 before the first course was served. The timing between each course was grossly overestimated which gave us mixed feelings about the experience as a whole. Considering the Michelin-star and price tag that comes with it, it was a bit of a disappointment. We love fine dining and even more when restaurants and chefs make their menu inclusive of all diets

De Plantage is a hard to miss brunch location in Oost. We love the setting industrial look with tall ceilings and lots of natural light. But find that their menu could do with a bit more vegan options. Dog and kid friendly, a great place for family gatherings with view on the zoo. We’ll be back when the weather is warm and sunny for sure. •

Finally went to Chez Nina, a lovely green brasserie. They nailed the interior and vibe, everything on the menu is by default vegetarian and some dishes can be made vegan. Their menu is seasonal. We love that this is a female owned restaurant Nourish Atelier A tasting menu is 52pp, but we just went for a single brunch dish. Our only note is that the vegan scrambled tofu was surprisingly made with silken tofu rather than firm which we thought could've held better structure. We’ll be back for dinner!

We hadn’t had indian food in so long and finally got to try The Golden Temple . They serve a lacto-vegetarian menu (no fish, meat or eggs) in a centrally located venue. Service and food was good. But Indian Amsterdam does not compare to Indian in London so far.

Pleasantly surprised at how good our experience was at @umamibyhan_restaurants . A modern Asian dining concept revolving around the Umami philosophy. The word Umami is all about keeping different flavours in balance. The tastes of sweet, salty, bitter and sour are familiar to us, but there is a fifth taste we can perceive with our tongue, umami. Its taste has been described as rounded, rich and savoury. It’s usually matched with salt to add depth and complexity to foods that may lack depth and complexity on their own. We had the 5 courses Bib Veggie/Vegan Gourmand menu and it was definitely an explosion of flavours. The only let down was the dessert which we could’ve skipped. Overall great time, will be back. Note, the environment is great but with the music can be quite noisy.

Meatless District used to be one of our only options when we first visited Amsterdam a few years ago. And I remember us struggling to get a booking 😅. We recently went back and were surprised to see their menu has shortened over the years (or our memory is failing us). The atmosphere was nice and casual and the food was good but with Amsterdam multiplying its vegan options meatless isn’t at the top of our list anymore but still a good safe option if you’re looking for a fully plantbased restaurant. Some of the things we tried: mushrooms on toast, french onion soup and their burgers. A more simple, casual menu with just a few mains (don’t bring your big eater friends here).

One of our favorites in Oost is Wilde Zwijnen. A cosy delicious setting. They offer a 3, 4 or 5 courses menu in different variants: Chef’s (omni), fish or veggie. Unfortunately they do not cater to vegans. But a great vegetarian option in Amsterdam perfect if you’re looking for modern Dutch dining in a trendy, rustic setting. Pictures suck because their lighting is soft and candle style 🤪

One of the top adresses for a great time in the heart of Amsterdam, head to Hearth Amsterdam Book on the weekend for some live music entertainment with your meal or during the week for a more chill evening. Italian inspired, the menu has innovative dishes that surprise both eyes and taste buds. Not only that, the environment and decor is modern and tasteful and staff is lovely. 10/10 recommend!

The best plant based sushi can be found at Vegan Sushibar . They truly never disappoint. New menu is out and going with a big group we were able to try almost everything out. Our favorite? The Crunchy California Dream 🤤 Don’t miss this must visit address if you’re in Amsterdam.

Sunday calls for brunch and we can’t deny we’re big fans of Dignita Amsterdam. Although they have many veggie options, vegans are not as well catered for. For veggies , their pancakes that change seasonally are to die for. Our favorite location is Hoftuin on a clear day. Can’t beat those garden views.

When in Utrecht, lunch at Vegitalian is a must. Veggie menu with great plantbased options in a casual central location. We tried the fig and balsamic pizza and the pappardelle truffle both were delicious.

We couldn’t resists getting a little cinnamon roll at Kluts in Utrecht and eating it along the canal. All their pastries are 💯 plantbased. Cute stop for coffee and a sweet.

Getting ready for Mexico 🇲🇽 with these delicious plant-based tacos from Madre. We have been wanting to visit for a while but their bookings are tight. What a menu and what a place. This place is 💯 vegan and will make all your omni friends happy. They’re cooking up a new menu, we will be back asap!

Dinner in Oude Pijp at De Waaghals (the daredevil 😈). You can choose between a 3 or 4 course surprise menu veggie or vegan 🌱 They have a wide variety of great bio and vegan wines as well.

Visited Margo's to get some of their vegan croissants but unfortunately they were already sold out when we got there. We ended up getting one of their sandwiches instead. Hoping to go back soon - and early this time to get some of their pastries!

We were quite excited to try out Bonboon as it is one of the first names that comes up when searching for vegan dining in Amsterdam. We took the 5 courses menu (49€) and weren’t as impressed as we thought we’d be. Too much pickled flavors that didn’t quite go together for our taste. Will need to go again to give it another try. Overall nice setting and staff but could improve the catering experience.

We used to think of vegan sushi as that piece of cucumber rolled in some rice 🥒🥲 Vegan sushi is hard to come by but the Vegan Sushi Bar has managed to put together an amazing menu that will make non-vegans jealous! Their motto “The only thing we take out of the ocean is plastic” 🌊 We’re very lucky to live very close to one of their locations 😜 They have two cute, insta worthy locations in Kinkerstraat and Wittenburgergracht. And their sashimi ‘salmon’ is definitely something to try 😏

“Harvested in the morning, on your plate in the afternoon” We knew we wanted to visit De Kas for a while and it completely exceeded our expectations. The venue was incredible (we’re planning on coming back for lunch to see it during daytime). Service was on point and the courses were just pure delight.

Sundays are for Saint Jean Croissant-Muffins or ‘cruffins’. The best plant based pastries we’ve had so far (and we’ve had many). We were too eager and didn’t take pics but we also got to try their Babka brioche and coffee. The cruffin has the right texture and flavor and honestly surprised us. This type of shop has the potential to completely disrupt the bakery/coffee shop scene. This is what we want. What we need more of. Shops that are great, that attract all types of customers and where plant based is the default but not especially the reason why people come.

We’ve wanted to try The Meets Eatery for a while as its right in our neighborhood. Very cute cozy vibes, definitely make a reservation as they are often fully booked. 📸 Risotto ai carciofi, fried artichoke and roasted tempeh were a great combo. We also had a few appetizers and the Feijoada. Good food but not as filling as we’d hoped. Some of the bigger eaters among us, felt like the mains could’ve been more substantial.
